Well, there is a workaround.  For some, it may bee too much of a hassle, for others it may be a perfect reason to save your money and not buy a text messaging plan.  I'm still torn personally.  In either case, with the Samsung Delve, I understand that, at least with US Cellular, you have to get the unlimited data plan.  I'm uncertain what Alltel's stance is, but assuming you did get the unlimited plan, why don't you just email your texts to people?  All major carriers have email addresses and from what I understand it seems to work well for some... Just set yourself up one of the mobile email accounts so that you can use that as your texting email and set it up so that way you can just email your friends.  It appears that the following website seems to have a very comprehensive list of what a person's "email address" would be:

http://www.nfomedia.com/mobilehelp.nfo

I have never tried this method, but I've read a lot about it and just haven't gotten around to it.  Why don't you tell us your feedback on doing it this way.  Does it work well? Is it worth it? Could this be the replacement to high text messaging costs, making that unlimited data plan a little less painful and more useful?

***Disclaimer: I do not warrant the use of the above information as being truthful or an alternative to using your normal SMS messaging.  Use this at your own risk!!***

so if you setup a mobile email account on the phone then how would you send text by email? because if you go to text and send a text to an email isn't that considered a regular text message thats deducted from your text plan or what.anyone have any info.

What I was meaning was that you could log into your email account via the phone and send texts by emailing them at their SMS address, (go to that web page to find the different carrier email addresses).

Still not yet... while it is great if you're stringent on cash, it seems to be to be a slight inconvenience... but after setting it up appropriately I'm sure there would be very little difference.

Basically I'm too lazy to try it yet.

FYI:
Some peoples phone doesnt accept email texts. I know several that uses the "older" phones that can not get them when I send them that way. Every time I sent them a message I get a email saying they do not accept them.

Alltel you have to have a smart choice plan which comes with unlimited text and web so you know I will be doing the "Normal" texting. lol

Ah, well good to know! I still haven't tried this method yet... I have 250 text plan and hardly used 20 anymore, so it's not a big issue for me.

This Does Work. I've already messed with the SMS messages through US Cellular. All you do is send an e-mail to 10digitphonenumber@email.uscc.net
