another easy less expensive thing to do is to have the tone on someone elses phone, then bluetooth it to your phone and you can set it as your ringtone. you could even use your old phone Smiley

When I bluetooth them over from another phone, it's the same thing. It puts them in my ringtones, but doesn't give me an option to use them like it does the preloaded ringtones.

Hi everyone, newer than newbie here....  have a new Delve with Alltel service.  I tried what holidaystlze said. Changed the file extension to qcp and bluetoothed it to  my Delve.  The Delve saved it in the Sounds file but says it cannot play it. "Cannot play sound due to file error" nor will it save it to the ringtone file.   I noticed the other sounds and ringtones have the "MID" extension. is this relevant?

Do I need to remove my memory card first? Is that relevant? Any one have any more input please?  thanks

OK, I figured it out, It requires a computer, with internet access and bluetooth
1. Go to Ventones and create an account.
2. Read the Alltel guide but stop short of sending ringtones to your phone.
3. Go to Create Free Ringtone, you must;
download an mp3 file from your computer
edit it, then save it to your computer in a file, preferably
a new file you named something like 'my ringtones'.
DO NOT try to send it to your phone, it will just send a text message to the phone.
Now, click on the link to save it to your computer.
4. Go to the file where you saved the ringtone and rename it with the qcp extension.
5. Bluetooth transfer it to your phone. I am not doing a bluetooth lesson here.
I never did it before and I figured it out, it's not hard.
6. After you transfer the file it will NOT be in your Ringtones on the delve
It will be in the SOUNDS file, from there you can set it as a ringtone.
It will make it the default ringtone, but you can change that back.
Or you can select it from Contacts as a ringtone for a certain contact.
Which is what I wanted to do. Sorry this is so long but I wanted it to
be complete.

Ive found the easy way to get my ringtones is to let my daughter download them from zedge then send them to me via text, save it to my sounds and it lets you set it from there as a ringtone.  all you need this way is to know someone with a phone that can download them directly she has a blackberry.

This is how I make ringtones for my delve and it works great. Go to menu, then multimedia, my sounds. Then go to record now and choose limit for message. Record whatever you want and save it. Then you can apply it as a ringtone.

Stangernc- I do not know anything about an apple but this is how I change the mp3 to qcp on my vista computer.
First go to start
Control Panel
Folder options
The view tab
Under hidden files and folders uncheck the "Hide extensions for known file types.

Then I right click on any mp3 and select rename.
When I rename it, I change the mp3 to qcp

I hope this will give you some kind of idea on where the option is on an apple. And I hope you get it. If you have any other questions please feel free to ask.

Also if you change the file types, you will not be able to use the file to send in message. It says "Unsupported content for MMS". Just a note that I havent read on here just yet.

On the Finesse (r810) all you need to do is rename the file to qcp and transfer with a spare microSD.

Anyone know how to transfer music from a card to the phone itself though? I didn't see a move button in the phone memory app.
