Well if you're an Alltel owner like me, you've probably noticed it's darn near IMPOSSIBLE to get rings on your phone.  Myxertones doesn't work, USB cable doesn't work.   I've even tried to send it to my email but Alltel doesn't let you open the attachments..   Angry  But I've researched it & I found out how to get ANY ring you want on your phone.

First find a site to download from.  The site HAS to let you download the ring to your COMPUTER and not the phone.  Myxertones does this I believe & so does Zedge.

Ok here's the trick:  you HAVE to have a bluetooth enabled computer or a bluetooth dongle.  Why?  B/c for some odd reason, bluetoothing the ring is the only way it'll be accessible. You can get a dongle online for cheap or I just bought mine @ walmart for $20.  Anyway, save any ringtones you want into a folder.  Here, you have to change the file extension from mp3 to qcp.  To display the file extensions, click on Tools>Folder Options, and uncheck "Hide Extensions for known file types".  After you do that you can change the ringtone's type.

Example:

Myringtone.mp3

Change to:

Myringtone.qcp

From here you HAVE TO BLUETOOTH the file to the phone.  If you try to do it via usb cable it will not work. BLUETOOTH is the only option. Using this process you'll be able to use any mp3 file on your phone by turning it into a qcp file.  It sounds more complicated than it really is... LOL

hmm, that's cool! Hopefully that'll help people!

I wonder if the qcp is processed the same as an mp3... Otherwise I'm kinda surprised that it would like you just change it and still work.

Alright so let me get this right - you just change the extension to qcp? That's it?

My husband and I just bought these phones today (yes, we BOTH got them - we couldn't decide on something different... lol) and I LOVE IT! Best phone I've ever used, no doubts about it.

On that note, how do I access my memory card via USB? We plugged it in to my Macbook and his PC and neither will find it. Any ideas? Probably the wrong place to ask, but we were trying to add music to our phones and it wouldn't find it... lame.

Yes, just change the file extension to qcp and it'll let you SET the sound as a ring.  If you do it as mp3, it WILL show on the phone, but it will not let you set it.  You HAVE to do it thru bluetooth tho for some odd reason.

As far as the memory card... You have to plug the usb cable into the cpu THEN plug it into the phone.  Or via versa, i can't remember right now.  It's an odd phone like that... lol

The ringtones worked, thanks!

As far as plugging the phone in via USB... still won't work either way. Tried both ways and no luck Sad

There has to be another way without bluetooth.  I got a forwarded message after the Steelers won the AFC Championship game and it let me save the song and image that came with the song.  So what if you texted your phone by emailing it to yourself?  Like send an email to yournumber@mobile.alltel.com or whatever the addy may be...i havent tried that yet but i bet it would work

the easiest thing i have done and that has worked on my hue is to upload my own mp3 to www.ventones.com and have clip out the portion for the ring, save it back on to my comp.

then log into your picture album on the web. i.e-www.axcessmypics.com for alltel users. upload your created mp3 to the album, then send it to your via via the axcesspics site. very easy and reliable. i clipped out a ringtone that lasts for 20 seconds and was able to send it to my phone.

p.s. when my phone received the "image," the song didn't play right off the bat. i had to save it as a sound and then it worked!

hopes this helps
